Technical Control Waterborne Wood Finishing Solution | A Technical Breakthrough for Hardness, Gloss & a Smooth Hand Feel

Waterborne wood finishing is full of technical trade-offs. Formulators often face two major challenges at the same time:

High hardness vs. comfortable smooth touch: A coating that’s hard enough to resist wear can easily become less pleasant to the touch.

Scratch resistance vs. film clarity: Additives that boost anti-scratch performance may also reduce transparency and “clean” optical appearance.

For parquet flooring and premium wood furniture, the topcoat must therefore deliver a full package:

durability against daily rub & wear and alcohol, dry-to-touch smoothness, and high glossy clarity.

Technical Control Waterborne Wood Finishing Solution

Technical Control PU 610 waterborne polyurethane resin is engineered to solve these key challenges.

PU 610 is an anionic aliphatic waterborne polyurethane dispersion. Once cured into a film, it provides a balanced combination of high hardness, anti-scratch performance, smooth hand-feel, high gloss & clarity, and strong resistance to water and alcohol, offering a dependable resin foundation for high-end waterborne wood topcoats.

Product Features and Advantages

High Hardness with Outstanding Scratch Resistance

PU 610 helps raise film hardness and improves resistance to scoring and abrasion, helping minimize the formation of minor wear marks during day-to-day use.

Smooth, Dry Touch—Better Than “Sticky Surface”

Unlike some waterborne resins that can feel rough or slightly tacky, PU 610 forms a coating with a naturally dry, smooth, silky feel, elevating both the visual and tactile quality of wood surfaces.

High Clarity & Rich Fullness—Keep Fresh Wood Grain

The film forms with excellent transparency and bright, full gloss. In high-gloss systems, it helps avoid whitening or haze, allowing wood grain to remain crisp—showing natural texture and layered depth.

It also delivers high “fullness”: the cured film feels thicker and more rounded, giving superior “body” and a more premium look.

Excellent Water & Alcohol Resistance

Designed to meet every day cleaning & chemical contact, helping maintain coating appearance under typical use conditions.

Strong Adhesion on Wood Substrates

Good adhesion performance on wood materials including oak, walnut, and birch, supporting reliable interlayer bonding and reducing risks such as peeling or cracking—so the topcoat performs with confidence.

The characteristics described above reflect typical results under single-component use conditions. When PU 610 is formulated into a two-component system with crosslinkers, its overall performance can be further enhanced.

Applications

Veneer Flooring Topcoats:
