Technical Control Waterborne PUD for Overprint Varnishes | High-performance Environmentally Friendly Paper Coating Solution

Traditional paper boxes mainly employ plastic film for protection, despite the long period it takes for plastic films to degrade in the environment. In recent years, governments worldwide have implemented regulations and policies to address the environmental concerns associated with "white pollution". Policies such as "plastic restriction orders" and "plastic ban orders" at home and abroad have played a pivotal role in driving the adoption of water-based overprint varnishes for paper coatings.



Water-based Overprint Varnishes

Water-based overprint varnishes, which are compounded with high-performance water-based polyurethane resin. They are applied as surface coatings on paper packaging and offer similar protective functions as plastic films. These varnishes provide performance advantages such as waterproofing, wear resistance, and non-stacking, which effectively address the environmental concerns associated with traditional film coatings. Additionally, their film-forming properties streamline the production process, which can effectively improve production efficiency and cost reduction.





Waterborne PUD for Overprint Varnishes

Technical Control has launched a series of anionic aliphatic water-based polyurethane resins for the application of overprint varnishes in paper coating. Within this range, the matte PU variant stands out as it does not contain matting powder and exhibits strong compatibility with other water-based polyurethane dispersions or acrylic emulsions. By effectively blending gloss resin with matte resin, the resulting products demonstrate exceptional wear resistance, scratch resistance, and anti-burst resistance. It can be applied to various substrates, including paper and plastic film, and yield favorable physical properties once printing ink is applied to the substrate.
